Stepinac 5, White Plains 4: At White Plains, James Decker pitched five innings without issuing a walk to earn the win and MVP honors in the 10th annual Joe McAvoy City Challenge.

“I actually had to calm myself down because a lot of these guys are my friends,” the White Plains resident said. “I wish them luck the rest of the way, but it was just a lot of emotions out there.”

The Crusaders scored all five of their runs in the fourth after a two-out error extended the inning. No. 9 hitter Sal Cappiello had the big blow when he hit a two-run double down the left field line. Kevin Nicholson threw a complete game for the Tigers, striking out seven and allowing only one earned run.
