WHITE PLAINS - For the second time in a six-day span, Anthony Antonicelli found himself standing in the batter's box with a chance to provide hope, if not win the game altogether.

With the bases loaded and one out in the seventh inning last Friday against Fordham Prep, the senior designated hitter served a two-run double into the right-field corner. Yesterday, with the Stepinac baseball team trailing its fiercest rival by a run, Antonicelli allowed himself a brief moment to reminisce.

"I wanted to do it again," he said, "so I just had to calm myself down and stay focused."

Antonicelli again waited on a pressure-filled pitch and hit the ball to right field, only this time the result was even better. He hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to lift the Crusaders to a 5-4 victory over Iona Prep at Stepinac High School.

Antonicelli's homer, on which Gaels right fielder Jimmy Murray fell through the fence, prompted a brief discussion between umpires. The blast capped another comeback for Stepinac (11-0), which has beaten all three of its CHSAA rivals.

"We're rolling," Antonicelli said. "And it gives us a little bit of a swagger."
